God really, really, really loves you, with actions and emotions too big to explain. Isnt that at amazing thought? Or are you like me and is it just really hard to wrap your head around what that means?
I like this verse, the KJV version of this verse, because it is a song we used to sing growing up. The upbeat 70s praise music tune doesn’t quite fit the powerful words, but it certainly served the purpose of most music and made me memorize the verse without thought or effort.
I decided to read the verse in context because the words seemed so powerful in contrast to the song, and reading them in context made it even more so. Zephaniah is a tiny book, so I’ll leave it to you to take 5 minutes and read it for yourself. I’ll just summarize what it reminded me.
This time is just a stage, a period of time, just like baby’s sleep regression, a sliver in the grand scheme of things.
God will judge the wicked.
God will free the captives.
God is all powerful.
God loves his people and will bring a new and truly good day.
I can still hear Jay Fesperman singing.
