Two days ago

Two days ago I was planning the rest of my time before maternity leave expecting a week and planning two, telling everyone that I was coping with the long wait until labor by eating constantly, when all of a sudden at 4:30 Dr. B calls and says the protein in my urine is high and she wants me to come in and deliver now.
I was in shock. It took a minute to even text Shah or decide if I should really just leave the office. Finally, kind of stunned I walked back to tell one person who Thankfully took over and made sure everyone knew and gave me a huge send off, as I wide eyed stumbled out the door. The day I had waited so long for was here. NOW.
I called Shah and he didn’t answer so I started driving home. I tried him again and he answered. He didn’t quite believe me at first but once he did it became real.
He’s taught me to slow down so instead of rushing to the hospital we ate steak pita for dinner because Tracy had just bought us Israeli pita. We both took showers  I gathered Zoya’s stuff and Shah gathered snacks.
Then we were off, leaving the house for the last time without Zoya. Nothing in my brain could grasp that fact

I had officially reached the size of a giant and since I wasn’t in labor we were able to document my final size.
Amber had just at a 46 hour induction with Willow so I was prepared for the worst and longest labor. Once we got checked in we were amazed to learn I was already 3 cm and 75% effaced. So no induction thay night. We were to sleep at hospital with monitors, shower, eat breakfast and then start the induction drugs.  But that’s not how things went. They went much better.
