This is the most exciting time of day.
It’s the time I first walk in the door after work.
Sure, I’d love to be able to take off my heels and change into comfortable clothes when I get home, but this baby doesn’t understand that and needs to know Mama is as excited to see her and she is to see me.
As the working outside the home spouse, I feel like I am in a position to speak a bit to others in my position, even if I’m mostly speaking to men.
I’ve done enough reading, in anticipation of being the stay-at-home parent, to know that the working parent “should be given a chance to unwind when they get home, rather than being bombarded.”
Of course, all those books I have read anticipate the male being the one coming home from work each day.
And so to all you traditional work away from home males, I say, get freaking over it.
Your child is happy to see you. Your wife is happy or at least relieved to see you. Hold your pee. Your tie can stay on for a little longer. You have it easier being away at work all day.
You should rush home feeling a need to relieve your wife each day, and not focus on your day. It’s actually a good way to put your day behind you.
If it feels like she is nagging you from thr moment you walk in the door, that’s just a sign of how hard her day really was. The question is, do you really believe her day was harder than yours? And if you don’t, can you still by choice, value her needs above your own?
Now it’s fine if the stay-at-home person does the same and considers the coming home persons needs and feelings, but right now I’m not that person, so speaking to those who have been at work all day, you just had the entire commute home as time to yourself, and the home all day person would probably give their right eye for such solitude, so rush in and give them a break.
Love this. My guy immediately engages with our son and greets me the second he walks in the door. A couple a days ago, I had a moment when I thought I was going to break apart from the stress of being with our very active three year old. Husband came home, took child out to the store and had child pick out flowers and a card and candy for me to say thank you for being such a great mom. I literally cried tears of joy, it was exactly what I needed and I am so thankful for my husband!!

Just reading that brought tears to my eyes. There is nothing sweeter than being appreciated combined with REST!
