It’s in the giving we recieve – St Francis of Assisi

IMG_2082It’s easy for a new mom to become very self centered. In thinking she us sacrificing for her child by getting up at all hours of the night to feed the little one she finds herself feeling entitled to be waited on hand and foot by, in my case, my husband. But today I decided to serve. My husband usually tells me on his days off that is all about me, but yesterday I told him that his days off were going to be all about him. and I think I am the one who is benefiting the most. Getting up early and taking care of the baby is so much more rewarding when you’re doing it as a gift to let someone else sleep. Just about every task is so much better when you’re doing it for someone else. I think this might be my favorite “weekend” since the baby has been born.  I have actually ended up getting more rest and getting more things done when I’ve been focused on helping rather than on making sure I get the rest I think I need for the coming week.
