I am so relieved to start the Advent season. It feels right. It is moving forward, but not to a place that is too far from my reality.
Advent is the season four weeks before Christmas when we recognize that we are waiting. We are waiting for resurection. We are waiting for healing. We are waiting for justice. We are waiting for mercy.
We think about those who waited for the first coming of Jesus, the Messiah, and we contemplate our own waiting as we wait for Jesus return.
I am waiting to be reunited with my love. I lay beside him in the cemetery and imagine that day. I cling to hope that God will bring new life, and I also cling to hope that I will again see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
These days are dark; they are tearful and full of strife. But I pray for light. I hope for light.
Psa 112:4 Even in darkness the light dawns…
